Training Manual:Violence against women
In a frame work of the interest of the center of Egyptian
women's legal Assistance to face the trials that concern
the Egyptian society in general and the Egyptian women
in particular , the center took the situation on it's behalf ,
that's because the violence the women face in many situations
in her life is the common factor in many problems in relation to the
Egyptian women .
And when the center took on its behalf the violence
situation it chooses three central titles for violence which is:
1) Incest
2)Honor crimes
3)Circumcision
And the book contains a relevant material that has an important effect
for the people who needs to take a general knowledge
about the social and the legal aspects and its historical
development , and the book concentrated in:
People are not imprisoned in traditions till the end,
and it is not acceptable every where .And all generations
must review their traditions inherited , if they are in
accordance with justice and freedom and improvement and
defending retardation and constrain and injustice.
The concept "family home" is a place where you can find peace
and intimation .And we will talk about every case in brief:
And regarding to the contact of the three cases that the manual
received about women's body though we discuss the social values for
this body and we compare the female body to the male body and explain parts
of the body that was attached in people's mind with the sexual respect and
renunciation.
From here we deal with:
1)Honor crimes
2)Circumcision
3)Incest
1)Incest:
It was clear that those conservative family values encourages Incest
to happen which commonly their victims are small girls . some studies
found that 75% - 80% from small girls .
from the sexual assault cases
to children happens inside the family. We also found that most probably
the girls is ravished by the father or the step father or the bigger
brother or in any male in the family that take the position of a father ,
while it was found that raping the male children most probably is done
by males from out side the family.
This doesn't mean that the conservative values produce Incest but these
values produce a cultivated atmosphere for this to happen,These values are:
the domination of males and the surrender of females ,
and treating children as if they were private property for their parents ,
the private secrets that is buried inside the family ( secret homes) so it
can be seen to the outside world as a perfect family.
One of these
conservative values is the upper hand style in
Education, some parents participate the policy of violence and
punishment against their children to obey them without a word. Commonly ,
the children absorb too much criticism and a little of praise , the parents
don't express any feelings towards their children though the little girl is
not courage enough to defend herself from any male relative bigger than her
who makes incest with her, especially if they were her father or brother who
take care of her ,or members from the family who want respect because they
are adults like the uncles or the maternal uncles or who are on a
similar rank.
2) Circumcision
The conservative values specify the work according to the gender,
so women are specified in producing children while men get money for
the family, Also the conservative values 's main doctrine is the necessity
to be circumcised for both sexes.
Specifying the work according to the
gender require the privilege of one gender to the other, up to the
symbolic level.
And when the inherited doctrines saw that the female
clitoris is a male symbolic part and the male foreskin is a female
symbolic part, the conservative families claims that the circumcision
is necessary for the boy to be a man and for the girl to be a women.
And in the female case they believe that the circumcision protect the
virginity of the girl and the dignity of the family because it cools
her sexual feelings.
And we will talk later in detail about the origin
of those doctrines and the answer of the modern science on it.
Honor crimes depends on dividing the women's traditional job which
is breeding generations to produce a great number of people in the
father's family, It will be a monstrous disaster for this role if the
female rebel against the red lines of the proper sexual attitude because
the man will be uncertain of the legitimacy of her children.
3)Honor crimes:
The traditional male society is convenient in it's formal shape in
the pastoral and agricultural societies where the personal relations
is organized in tribal organized by martial laws, this traditional
society accept circumcision and honor crimes but incest is forbidden ,
in both traditional and modern society.
But in some cases the victim of incest is killed under the curtain of
the honor of the family.Here Mona Helmi's word is shaped in the beginning of this manual, the
traditions is not a rigid constants, though we must take from our traditions
what is up to date to our modern life.
Now we live in a modern town ,not in a primitive tribe , and we are a member
in a national society , we have an impact on it and it has an impact on us ,
and we are not in an ivory tower away from the world and we are on time
to which the modern town embrace it's citizens rights .
who are similar in the rights and duties under the flag of
the national law and the national conventions, then there is no
difference in this between a man or a women , the treatment is the
same as the past in a frame of a modern national town.

family and in some cases the girl victim is killed.
2) The family is a private institution and it is difficult to get
into it ,and it can protect the ravisher - for the fear of the talks
of the people around them and their fame , most of the family violent
crimes is not declared.

Economic factors:
Common houses, the sexual relations is made in front of the children
in a crowded rooms which lessens the felling of coyness.
Social factors:
The bad sexual education that doesn't concentrate on inserting the true
moral values .
Psychological factors:
Mental and psychological disorder, taking drugs and alcoholics .
4) The side effects of incest:
A sexual attack in a small age leads to the destruction of the stability of
the society ,and the victim suffers from the inability to do any successful
true sexual relation.

2) Attempt to kill:10%

Reasons for honor crimes:
1) Uncertainty :79%
2) Discovering the adultery :9%
3) Hiding the illegal relation : 6%

The hymen is the symbol of the girl's honor in Egypt and the Egyptian
society doesn't accept any sexual relation for the female and this
is considered a horrible mistake and it must be corrected by blood.
1) Killing the wife due to uncertainty 41%
2) Killing the daughter due to uncertainty 34%
3) Killing the sister due to uncertainty 18%
4) Killing one of his relatives.7%

The relation ship between the ravisher and the victim in honor crimes :
1) The women is a property for the men of the family.
2) The women in the age of fertility is a social danger.
3) Honor crimes is not written customs.
- Adultery: a man making adultery with another man's wife with her
acceptance.
- Fornication: unmarried women making an illegal relation with her
acceptance ,whether she is a virgin , divorcee or a widow.
- Ravishment: raping a female , without her acceptance whether she is
married or not married.
3)Circumcision
Circumcision is a social tradition that is done in a few nations in the
world and it has no relation with health,90% from the females ,80% from
the males have no problems in all the continents of the world.

Circumcision lessens the capability for women for sex and makes her.
